Buckminster Fuller once said If you want to teach people a new way of thinking, don't bother trying to teach them. Instead, give them a tool, the use of which will lead to new ways of thinking. Court budgets have dipped drastically over the past four years forcing visionary court leaders to go beyond traditional budget cutting strategies to developing tools that challenge the very way courts do business. This session focuses on how some courts have been able to continue to deliver or actually improve the quality judicial services in the face of significant financial and cultural barriers. Panelists will share their experiences on the conditions that their courts faced at the beginning of their journey, discuss the difficult choices they had to make to overcome those challenges and, in retrospect, assess the consequences of the difficult choices their courts have made.
